Sometimes, I don't get all the good pictures. But Jim & Laura post
theirs for everyone to enjoy. Check out their gallery

First
Saturday – not a perfect day with light (almost unflyable)
winds but the sun was warm. It’s too bad someone wanted their dog to chase
a ball on the same field we were trying to fly,
The dog was too interested in the kite so we left the field to the
inconsiderate dog owner. The BBQ at the Rock Store was excellent as usual.

Saturday – Well, this was a bust! The first snowfall to accumulate in 2
years blew through Charlotte today. First it was rain, then snow, then
rain, then snow again. It was just a cold, miserable day. Within an hour,
I had 2 inches on my deck railing. The local weather guys must have wet
themselves with excitement. Hopefully we’ll have better weather in a
couple weeks.

Saturday - What a great day! Lots of sunshine, warm temps,
lots of wind and lots of WACKOS! St. Patty must have been shining on us
because the wind definitely was at our backs. Good warmup for Lake Park.

First Saturday – Despite the “predictors of gloom” at
the weather channels, we had a pretty good day – winds were up and down (a
standard Frank Liske feature) and it was a little cool but we saw sunshine
and blue skies for the first time in what seemed like months. A new flyer
came to visit and met up with the 5 WACKOS enjoying the unexpectedly nice
weather. Welcome, Lisa, glad you enjoyed yourself! We hope you come back with
your family to fly with us again.

First
Saturday - Sunny, warm and windy. although the winds were variable,
there was enough wind to be able to fly almost anything. Single liners
were up and down and sometimes the Revs were a challenge to fly, but
dual liners seemed to be doing alright. You can tell how sunny it was by
the redness on my arms and legs that night. Good crowd and good fun.
Hope to see more of the same in a couple weeks.

Mile
High Kite Fly at Beech Mountain. Rain or shine, it’s always a good time at
Beech Mountain! Unfortunately, like the last couple years, we got
rained out again. But this time it set a new record for shortness. The wind
and rain came suddenly and violently from a big cloud that blew over the
mountain from the west. It wasn't the rain that killed the festival, it was
the lightning that followed. After a lunch meeting at the Four Seasons,
Calder arranged for us to be able to use the Buckeye Lake Rec Center for
some indoor flying on the basketball court. Pretty good crowd, too. It was
the first chance for some of us to fly indoors and everyone really enjoyed
it. We stayed there until it was time for the picnic just a few yards down
the hill. Monday morning was pretty much like past years, too. The fog was
thick and you couldn't hardly see the upper parking lot until after 9 am.
RAF and WACKOS were packing up to head home.
So even though there wasn't much outdoor flying, the
indoor flying helped make up for it. As it turned out, Sunday
afternoon has it's share of brief, but intense, showers as well. I just hope
this stuff all blows through by next weekend. We've had a pretty sparse
flying summer because of all the rain.
